Derek Trucks keepin’ it real

Over the past two decades or so, Derek Trucks has made his name known through his guitar playing with the Allman Brothers Band, touring with Eric Clapton, and his solo career with his band and, most recently, with his wife Susan Tedeschi. He is simply one of the best guitarists out there today, and his slide guitar work is second to none. Recently, he sat down with Music Radar to talk all things music and what his secret to success has been.
“It hit me. It’s in your hands. Good guitars, good amps – all that stuff helps. But it doesn’t make a player”
On his guitar:
“Visually, it’s a mean-looking instrument, with the horns on, so it’s easy to think about hard rock and heavy metal, for sure. But I think there are a lot of things you can do with it.”
This is a great interview because it really details Derek’s rise in the industry while also giving him a chance to talk about the different bands he has been in, his gear, and what he thinks has made him such a great guitarist. To read the rest of the interview, check out Music Radar.
