It’s hard to believe it has been 25 years to the day since the world lost one of the greatest guitarist of all time in Mr. Stevie Ray Vaughan. Personally speaking, I remember listening to all of those records when I was young and being amazed at how someone could sing and play the guitar like he did. He was truly one of a kind. Well, we came across an article earlier today that details some of the news coverage on that fateful day.
“This is the greatest loss to Texas music since Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper (J.P. Richardson) went down in the ’50s,’ said Casey Monahan, director of the Texas Music Office, who knew Mr. Vaughan. The two Texas musicians died with Ritchie Valens in a 1959 air crash. That quote gives you an idea of just how important of a musical figure SRV had become in such a short amount of time. His music and talent will always be timeless, but to say we lost a great one that day would be an understatement.
